Planning blog: props, costumes, back-up...

 Scheduling

We plan to begin filming in early February during the week of the 6th and finish the week of the 20th. Then edit for a week to two weeks until it is done. This schedule includes prep time for props and costumes, planning ride accommodations, and finalizing any script or plot points. 

Location 

We are looking at multiple locations, and depending on the weather and availability, the final selection will be made. The sites are listed below 

  • Broward Mall 

  • Jacaranda neighborhood community 

  • Alex’s house 

  • TY Park 

  • Lauderdale by the sea 

  • Hugh Taylor Birch State Park 


Participants 

Include but are not limited to 

  • Nurdlie, Kennedy, Nature, Alex (producers of the film)

Health and Safety 

  • We will have a first aid kit present on the scene incase we have an unplanned accident 

  • We are also filming in close proximity to a hospital as well as a Walgreens clinic 

  • We will make sure to wear lots of sunscreen and stay hydrated so we do not pass our or have any related complications 

Props 

Props for our short film includes: 

  • Shopping bags

  • Clothes on racks

  • Cell phone

  • Picnic blanket

  • Food basket

  • journal






Costumes 

Our attire will be casual as the scenes include going to malls, neighborhoods and parks. All of these locations are casual everyday attire. Though the characters will be wearing clothes that match their personalities.


Back up plans 

For whatever reason, if one actress is unable to perform their role in the movie, we will find a replacement. To keep us on track, if one person couldn't complete an edit, another person will do it. We shall either wait another day or move to a location that resembles the one we were in before if the weather in our current location doesn't conform to the plan. Specifically, if the therapist scene can not be filmed outside in a park like the script, we will find an indoor space that resembles an office, for example a library.

Production blog: Crash!

 Today at the old neighborhood we filmed the scene where the character tragically gets hurt in a car accident. This plot of our story is supposed to give the character Nathalie a sense of remorse for the way she treated her friend. Hoping a sense of loss gives her a change of heart toward her selfish behaviors. To do this scene, I had Alexi that has a car drive toward the camera. This took multiple shots, each having different techniques for example the first was just a slow stop but the others combined a honk or a harsh stop. To create the allusion of a car accident without harming each other---we did not actually film a car hitting one of our teammates ( disclaimer) --- I had POV shots of the character acting like they got bumped by the car. To create this I filmed a slow motion of what happens, shooked the camera in the falling motion, filmed inside of the car, and had the actor act out falling.
